Remittance Fund
Remittance is defined as money sent directly from individuals or communities abroad to people back home or living in displacement. In Sudanese communities, remittances are often what people rely on to survive, covering everyday needs like food, medical care, housing, and school fees.
Because the money goes straight to households, families decide how it is used based on their own priorities. This avoids long delays, outside decision-making, and high administrative costs, while also supporting local markets. Through this approach, the Darfur Diaspora Collective centers dignity, autonomy, and trust, turning diaspora solidarity into direct, material support.
The Sanduq is the collective structure that makes this remittance possible. Members contribute regularly, and those pooled funds are used to send remittance directly to families facing urgent need.
