The Diaspora Table:
Sudan Unspoken
A space for people to talk, argue, disagree, remember, and sometimes say what they’ve been holding in.
The Diaspora Table is a space for conversations we don’t usually have out loud.
It brings together Sudanese voices, especially young people, across Sudan and the diaspora to talk honestly about identity, community, war, memory, and everything in between. Some conversations are personal. Some are uncomfortable. Some are things people avoid naming at all.
This isn’t a podcast about having the “right” answers. It’s about sitting with questions. It’s about saying things clearly, even when they’re difficult, and making space for different experiences to exist.
Some episodes focus on lived experience, including what it means to grow up Darfuri in Khartoum, how people navigate life in the diaspora, and the ongoing question of what it really means to belong.
Others focus on things people don’t usually say out loud, such as gossip and social pressure, the silence around harm, friendship, jealousy, trust, and the weight of family expectations and control.
And some episodes step back to ask bigger questions about who gets to speak for Sudan, whose suffering receives attention, and what we continue to choose not to see.
This podcast is mainly for Sudanese people, wherever they are. But it’s also for anyone trying to understand how people live, think, and move through Sudanese communities today.
Be our guest!
We are especially interested in Sudanese voices across Sudan and the diaspora, but this space is open to anyone with something thoughtful to contribute.
